“First we thought the PC was a calculator. Then we found out how to turn numbers into letters with ASCII — and we thought it was a typewriter. Then we discovered graphics, and we thought it was a television. With the World Wide Web, we’ve realized it’s a brochure.” – Douglas Adams

The best travel drones for 2017 – First we had the camera; then came polaroids; after that it was on to digital cameras; then smartphones. And today? We’ve got another revolution on our hands. We’re starting to get swamped with game-changers known as drones. In addition to revolutionizing artistic photography and videography, drones are insanely cool and fun to mess around with. In fact, they tend to come in handy when you’re out exploring the outdoors somewhere and you feel like capturing the moment of a wildly gorgeous waterfall or cliff side. So, we, your travel maniacs at Hop America thought it’d be fun to get in on some of that action. The result? Feast your eyes on the best travel drones for 2017.
Now, if you’re on the market for a 4K Ultra HD tech-boasting, one-pound-in-weight slice of coolness, this is the choice for you. You can use the Breeze Cam app in order to control your droid with nothing more than your Android or iOS device. That’s basically all you’ll need to capture some pretty insane aerial shots. And speaking of those, the Breeze also has special features like Follow Me Mode, Orbit and Selfie, all of which allow you to take pro-style, complicated shots. And if you’re worried about it hitting objects mid-flight, don’t be. It comes equipped with optical flow and infrared positioning.
3. GoPro Karma Drone
One of the coolest features of the GoPro Karma is the fact that it uses the GoPro Passenger App. It lets you share the video being taken by the drone with your friends and is compatible with both the GoPro Hero 4 and 5. Another reason why we’ve chosen this bad boy as worthy of being among the best travel drones for 2017 is the fact that it’s practical. It comes in its own compact case that allows you to wear it like a backpack. Furthermore, the droid can go as high as 9,840 feet and has a speed of up to 15 m/s. And to top it all off, the Karma also boasts its own controller with a battery span of up to four hours.
How does bragging to your friends about an aerial back shot of you riding your bike sound like? If that’s a “hell yea!” that just passed through your brain, then you’re in luck. Courtesy of Vantage Robotics, the Snap comes with a built-in special feature that lets it follow you around. It uses the GPS on your phone to automatically track your movements. What’s more, three separate modes are available to generate more artistic-looking aerial shots. You can opt between Free Form, Virtual Wire and Air Tripod. Jumping around with a mountain bike? Flying off a cliff for a high dive? Perfect! Your Snap will be right there with you to catch the awesomeness right as it takes place. Talk about the best travel drones for 2017, huh?!
Hop America’s Winner of The Best Travel Drones For 2017 – Xiro Drone Xplorer
For those of you who care plenty about appearances and not just sheer functionality, welcome to one of the best travel drones for 2017: the ultra-gorgeous, slick, all-black Xiro Xplorer. Due to its “futuristic and industrial aesthetics,” it was awarded the Good Design Award of 2015. And if we’re being completely honest, one of the best things we liked about this droid was the fact that it flat-out makes you look like a pro (even though we had no idea what we were doing). It can be controlled with a tactile, silicon remote control, which has the option of sending vibration signals to the pilot. Also, another cool feature is that the controller actually lets you attach your smartphone to it, enabling you to view HD images in multiple angles. This was definitely our favorite and we have a pretty good idea you’ll like it, as well.
