Lititz, PA – The time has come again to visit good, old Pennsylvania and all of the breathtaking gems it has to offer. Namely, on this occasion, we’ll be focusing our attention on the small town of Lititz. This place is known for its friendly atmosphere, architecture, cafes, unique shops and tree-lined, picture-perfect streets.

Because of its unique architecture, many say that Lititz is the ideal representative of small town America. Indeed, a combination of Victorian, German and English styles makes the buildings and structures in this town very unusual, and therefore, interesting to look at. And there’s nothing like enjoying a nice cup of coffee or a meal and being surrounded by creative architecture (at least in our book).

Lititz, PA – You Can Literally Smell The Uniqueness

Interestingly, you can often smell the sweet aroma of chocolate as you enter the town. That’s because the Wilbur Chocolate Company has been producing chocolate in downtown Lititz for 86 years, since 1930. So, indulging your sweet tooth is something you can scratch off your to-do list when visiting this charming, rural small town.

Located some 80 miles north of the city of Lancaster, Lititz is situated along Route 501, in northern Lancaster County. The area was originally inhabited by the Susquehannock Indians, whereas the first settlers in the 1720s were Pennsylvania Germans. Ultimately, the town of Lititz was established in 1749. This is when a church settlement was established here by the Moravian Church, under Count Nikolaus Von Zinzendorf.

Why Not Relocate To Lititz Right Away?

Visitors can enjoy a wide range of attractions and activities in Lititz. For example, the Julius Sturgis Pretzel Bakery was founded in 1861 and is the first commercial pretzel bakery in America. Tours of the original bakery, enjoying soft pretzels and getting hands-on lessons are all available.

The Lititz Springs Park is also a place not to miss, with its seven acres. The famed Lititz Run actually originates in the park, and is the perfect place to enjoy a peaceful afternoon. Home to shows, concerts and events, including the grand 4th of July Celebration, since 1818, this park is an attraction in itself.

And for those looking for a family friendly way of spending their mornings in Lititz, there’s the Farmers’ Market. A community interest table, chef demonstrations, children’s activities and live music are just some of the stuff you’ll be able to enjoy here. Not to mention a ton of locally produced foods and other products, all sold in a festive setting by farmers.

Lititz, PA More Than Takes Care Of Its Visitors

Downtown is also where several inns and b&bs are located, some of which are our favorites. For example, the historic General Sutter Inn, also known as Bulls Head Public House, was established in 1764. It offers 16 gorgeous rooms and seasonal patio dining. Then there’s the Alden House B&B, which is an 1850s federal-style inn restored to include modern amenities. It boasts spacious rooms with private baths. Other accommodations include the Lititz House B&B and the Carter Run B&B.

Shopping opportunities are also endless. Some of the more prominent stores that dot the downtown include Clemintines, AM Jewelry Inc., a. heather & co., MinD’s, Lititz Watch and Jewelry, Glitz, Spotted Owl, Sonnie’s Secret, Shaub’s and countless others.

And lastly, when it comes to the dining experience in town, there are also plenty of places that offer some. Bruno’s Old Style Hoagies is our personal favorite, as well as A Tea Affair and the Appalachian Brewing Company. That being said, one shouldn’t miss Dosie Dough, Danner’s Deli, Café Chocolate of Lititz, Isabella’s Ice Cream Parlor or Greco’s Italian Ices & aHomemade Ice Cream. The Rooster Street Butcher, Roma Pizza and Nino’s Pizza are also tremendously delicious.
