And in our quests, we find all sorts of gems. But we must say, it doesn’t often happen that we come across a town as breathtaking and characteristic as the one we’re going to tell you about on this occasion. It’s called Eureka Springs, AR.

There are many things Eureka Springs became known for. Its historical significance is definitely one. Its incredible Victorian architecture is another. But, this place also got on the map as a haven for artists, as well as for its healing waters. Eureka Springs has been a popular vacation destination and resort town since the 1800’s. And you know something? It’s still every bit as incredible as it was back in the day.

One of two county seats of Carroll County, AR, Eureka Springs is tucked into the Ozark Mountains of Northwest Arkansas, close to the Missouri border. And with a population of just over 2,000, this small town truly has a vibe like no other. The peaceful and secluded mountainside streets of this magical place almost make you feel like you’re about to board the train to Hogwarts. It’s THAT impressive.

Extraordinary Victorian homes, which hug the cliff sides, also line the streets of this North Arkansas town. The entire central downtown area is on the National Register of Historic Places. In fact, it should come as no surprise that the National Trust for Historic Preservation named this place as one of its Dozen Distinctive Destinations. And one of the main thoroughfares through the center of Eureka Springs is Spring Street. This iconic street is every bit as memorable as Fifth Avenue in NYC or Sunset Boulevard in LA.

Surrounded by the majestic Ozark Mountains, two rivers and three lakes, it’s more than obvious that Eureka Springs offers countless recreational opportunities. These include swimming, fishing, boating, bicycling, horseback riding, hiking and so on. On the other hand, should you be more in the mood for indoor entertainment, there’s an abundance of it throughout the town, as well.

Ah, Romance – The Inexplicable X Factor Of Eureka Springs

Restaurants, parks, museums, spas, craft emporiums, fine art galleries, boutiques, unique shops and more are all found in block after block of what has long been known as the tourist paradise of Eureka Springs. Events and festivals, for example, are another huge thing here. They range from UFOs, car shows, the arts and antiques to opera, jazz and blues gigs and shindigs.

Furthermore, several top-name entertainers have a habit of showing up at the Eureka Springs City Auditorium yearly. Music variety shows also take place here, so you can checkbox that baby right off your vacation to-do list. And should you be in the mood for a more informal tour of the town, there’s always romantic carriage rides. These are a hugely popular way to see the city and intimately enjoy it with someone you care about.
