Orange Beach vacation – Anyone who’s ever heard the iconic Lynyrd Skynyrd song “Sweet Home Alabama” released in 1974 must have thought about the namesake state. One way or the other, the song is so catchy that it sort of invites people to go for an Alabama vacation. (By the way, this has nothing to do with the fact that we’re listening to the aforementioned tune while writing these very lines.) Inspiration is a peculiar thing at times, indeed. No wonder, then, that we got tons of it while exploring the small town of Orange Beach, AL.

Why Go To Alabama For An Orange Beach Vacation?

First of all, folks, tread lightly. For years, this place was a closely guarded secret. Alabama’s white sand beaches have inspired countless souls who were there for an Orange Beach vacation. Many have stayed forever, mind you. That’s the kind of influence this place has on a man. Alabama’s southern border to the Gulf of Mexico is ideal in the summertime. But, it’s no less impressive in the fall, either. Clear waters and soft sand stretch for 32 miles, giving way to an almost effortlessly majestic Orange Beach vacation. But, don’t take our word for it. Countless families return here year after year. If that’s not a trustworthy indicator, we don’t know what is.

This small town can be found in Alabama’s Baldwin County; its population barely exceeds 6,000. One of the reasons why we loved this tourist gem is the fact that it allows visitors access to the interior bayous and bays north of Perdido Pass. If you’re an explorer at heart, your Orange Beach vacation is going to be exhilarating. If not, not all is lost. There are countless attractions throughout the area. They include The Wharf, the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo, Waterville USA, Adventure Island, the Orange Beach Golf Center, deep-sea fishing and plenty more.

Just A Few Friendly Suggestions

First off, an Orange Beach vacation, well any vacation actually, wouldn’t be complete without some souvenirs. If you agree, you’d be wise to check out the Orange Beach Art Center. A number of local artists will have a blast creating a personalized souvenir to remember your coastal experience by. On the other hand, it’s always good to learn something new when vacationing. Alabama has a rich history; the Orange Beach Indian and Sea Museum stands as living proof of that. This place is all about preserving Native American and Gulf Coast history.

Exploring the Alabama coast, however, won’t be all it can if you decide to ignore the largest charter fleet on the Gulf Coast. In addition to some of the best restaurants in the area, Zeke’s Landing Marina is also home to watersport rentals. Or, here’s another thought: why not go for a sailing adventure on your Orange Beach vacation? Hanging out with friends and family on a 40-foot boat complete with a private sailing tour operator sounds awesome from where we’re standing.

Lastly, getting the most out of your Orange Beach vacation requires you to be well fed and rested. That won’t be a problem here. Orange Beach restaurants are as abundant as they are creative in their menu selection. We loved Tacky Jack’s and their house staple, the Farmer’s Omelet. The pecan snapper at Voyagers is absolutely to die for, and an insane beer selection at Ginny Lane Bar and Grill completes the picture. Accommodation-wise, we went with Palm Beach Escapes and their gorgeous views of the Gulf from our own patio. And guess what? We’re going right back next fall.
